Christmas 2004
| Home | Christmas time this year was very special for a number of reasons. The most important was because on December 24th, my grandparents celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary! We had a special party for them at my aunt and uncle's home and ended up meeting there again the next day for Christmas dinner. This trip also gave me a chance to meet my cousin's first child, Morry Thomas Wakefield V! Yes, T5, as my father nicknamed him, is the newest bundle of joy to enter the Wakefield family. My cousin and his wife, Dede, seem to be having a great time as parents. Be sure to check out the photograph of four generations of Morry Thomas Wakefields. There is also another photograph below which shows all the Morrys in attendance. With immediate and extended family, there were six men named Morry at my grandparent's wedding anniversary party. Four of the Morrys have already become successful men in their own rights. The other two are still learning about fingers, toes, and why all these strange people keep cooing at them! Their time will come, and I suspect they too will continue the family's tradition of excellence and community service. It was also a special time thanks to the fact I developed an acquaintance with someone I would have never met had it not been for the significant challenges sometimes associated with air travel. In the end, it took me 2 days and planes, trains and automobiles to get from McLean, Virginia to Louisville, Kentucky. I want to send out a special thank you to my "Holiday Travel Angel", Page Johnson. She is the woman in the green shirt and without her perseverance, I probably would have missed my grandparent's anniversary party. You see, she was trying to go from New York to Lexington, Kentucky by way of Washington D.C. and flying into Louisville. We got caught up in the same weather problems as everybody else. The good news is she was able to find a flight to Charleston, West Virginia and secure the last one-way drop off rental car to be found. Less than 20 minutes before the flight departed I was able get the very last seat on the plane and we headed off together, to Charleston. Once there, we rented a car and drove home. I dropped her of in Frankfort, Kentucky and made the last 40 minutes of the drive alone, but very grateful for being in Kentucky! Page and I had one great conversation after another the entire car ride home. The miles seemed to fade away as we carried on about one thing and then the next. I have come to truly appreciate her and the acquaintance we've made. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
